Jakarta, September 23, 2025 – TransTRACK, in collaboration with Howen and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Empowering Mining Operation Efficiency through Fleet Technology Integration”. This forum serves as a strategic space to discuss the latest innovations and strategies in mining operations, particularly the use of integrated technology to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity.

Aris Pujud Kurniawan, Co-Founder & CTO of TransTRACK, emphasized the importance of implementing IoT, AI, and data analytics-based technologies in the mining sector. “Safety and efficiency are closely related. Integrated fleet management technology enables mining companies to reduce risks, optimize productivity, and maintain operational sustainability,” he said.
From the regulator’s perspective, Ahmad Wildan, Senior Investigator at KNKT, highlighted road transport safety in the mining industry as a risk mitigation effort. “Safety means avoiding accidents. To that end, hazards must be understood and controlled in order to reduce risks. Many incidents stem from incompetent drivers, fatigue, or disregard for discipline. Technology plays an important role in controlling these hazards,” he explained.
Presenting a global perspective, Judy Zhu, Vice President of Sales at Howen, emphasized that technology integration is the foundation of the future of mining. “The combination of smart sensors, telematics, and AI-based telematics video—including hardware and platforms—accelerates digital transformation, improves cost efficiency, and creates a safer and more productive work environment,” she explained.
Real support also comes from industry players. PT Bukit Asam Tbk, a loyal TransTRACK customer in the mining sector, shared its experience in implementing MDVR technology. Taupan Ariansyah Putra, Department Head of Mine Operation Control & Support at PT Bukit Asam Tbk, revealed, “Driver fatigue is still the main cause of mining incidents. Internal data shows a significant decrease: 48% of incidents in 2023 (6 cases), 36% in 2024 (5 cases), and 21% in 2025 (3 cases) after implementing TransTRACK’s monitoring technology.”
Taupan added that challenges such as overspeeding on hauling roads, operator behavior that does not comply with SOPs, and limited field supervision can now be overcome with the TransTRACK MDVR solution. Features such as speed alarms, real-time video monitoring and two-way communication, GPS tracking, and video recording as evidence of incidents help with comprehensive monitoring. “Installing MDVR in each unit is an investment in continuous improvement and K3 evaluation. With the support of AI, field monitoring can be done in real-time, supporting Bukit Asam’s Zero Accident target,” he said.
Through this FGD, TransTRACK, Howen, and KNKT reaffirmed their joint commitment to creating a safe, efficient, and sustainable mining ecosystem. Collaboration between technology, regulators, and industry is expected to serve as a model for driving transformation in the safety and productivity of Indonesian mining.
