Collaboration between Ministry of Transportation, IMI, KNKT, and TransTRACK® to Discuss “Fleet Safety Association” Led by IMI

Jakarta, October 14, 2024 – A major step is being taken to improve safety and innovation in Indonesia’s transportation sector. TransTRACK, together with the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenhub), the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) held a collaborative meeting discussing the formation of the Fleet Safety Association. The initiative is led by IMI’s Mobility Division and aims to improve the safety standards of transportation fleets across Indonesia.
Attended by a number of entities, including Akhmad Rizal Arifudin as Head of Central Transportation Safety Policy from the Ministry of Transportation, Ahmad Wildan as Senior Investigator from KNKT, as well as Rifat Sungkar as Vice Chairman of Mobility from IMI, Tengku Irvan Bahran as Vice Chairman of IT and Digital, and Ronny Arifudin as Touring & Community Commission of IMI Mobility, Sirly W Nasir as Director of Public Relation IMI, and Anggia Meisesari as CEO of TransTRACK. Also present was Onny Febriananto as President Director of AO Group who also provided views related to the application of technology in supporting fleet safety.
The meeting marked the beginning of an in-depth strategic discussion, covering various efforts to strengthen the national transportation safety system. All parties involved share a common vision to improve safety, efficiency and innovation in the transportation and logistics sector, with a key focus on safer and more sustainable fleet management.
Focus on Fleet Safety Standards
During the meeting, the importance of forming a Fleet Safety Association was discussed, which aims to be a collaborative platform for transportation companies, fleet managers, and related stakeholders. Through this association, it is expected to create higher safety standards, which apply to all transportation fleets in Indonesia.
IMI, known as an organization with a strategic role in developing safety and innovation in transportation, is leading this initiative through its Mobility Division. The association will work with transportation companies, technology providers, and government agencies to encourage the adoption of cutting-edge safety technologies and best practices in fleet management.
Technology’s Role in Improving Safety
At this meeting, technology was recognized as key in improving transportation safety. TransTRACK, as a leading provider of fleet and supply chain management solutions, presented the various safety technologies they have developed. Driver monitoring systems, driver behavior analysis, and real-time vehicle management are considered critical components in ensuring that every vehicle on the road operates safely.
Government Commitment to Transportation Safety
TransTRACK and the Ministry of Transportation (MoT), through its representatives, confirmed their commitment to support this initiative. The government recognizes the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in creating a safer transportation environment, which can start from the use of better safety tools and features. The Fleet Safety Association’s initiative is also in line with national goals to reduce traffic accident rates and ensure better safety standards.
Next Steps for MoT, IMI, KNKT, and TransTRACK Collaboration
With this collaboration in place, the next steps will focus on drafting fleet safety guidelines, developing relevant policies, and implementing safety technologies. A follow-up meeting will be held in the near future to finalize the strategy and implementation plan.
