Car breaks down? What should be done? Driving on the highway can be a smooth experience, but sometimes unwanted surprises like a broken down car can quickly change travel plans. For many drivers, this can be a daunting prospect. However, amidst this uncertainty, modern solutions can provide a better way out.

In this article, we will explore the challenges that may be faced when a car breaks down on the toll road and how the latest technologies, such as Fleet Management System from  TransTRACK, can provide effective solutions. Let’s explore how these innovations can improve the safety, convenience, and efficiency of traveling on modern toll roads.

What to Do If Your Car Breaks Down on the Toll Road?

If your car breaks down on the highway, steps to take include:

Pull over and turn on the hazard lights

  • Move your car to the shoulder of the road or a safe area on the side of the highway to avoid impeding traffic.
  • Activate your hazard lights to alert other motorists that your vehicle is having problems and can help reduce the risk of an accident.

Attach the Safety Triangle

  • After parking the car, remove the safety triangle from the trunk.
  • Place the triangle about 50-100 meters behind the car to warn other drivers to be careful.

Check for Damage

  • Perform a quick inspection of the vehicle to identify any possible problems, such as a flat tire or other mechanical issues.
  • If there is a problem that you can fix yourself (for example, changing the spare tire), do so with caution.

Use the Panic/SOS Button Feature of TransTRACK

  • If your car is equipped with a panic/SOS button or a similar service like TransTRACK, press the button to call for help or emergency notification.

Don’t Wait in the Car

  • After ensuring roadside safety, avoid waiting in the car.
  • If the situation around the highway is unsafe or you feel more comfortable elsewhere, move to a safer location.

Contact Official Towing Services or Authorities

  • Contact an authorized towing service offered by the toll road authority or local authorities.
  • Provide complete information about your location, the type of problem encountered, and follow the instructions provided for further assistance.

Always make sure to have relevant emergency service numbers, such as official towing numbers and toll road assistance service numbers, handy in emergency situations like this. The safety of you and others on the road always comes first.

How Much Does Towing a Car on the Tollway Cost?

The cost of towing a car on the highway can vary depending on several factors, including the type of vehicle, the distance covered by the tow, as well as the rate policy implemented by the towing company providing the service. Towing rates may also vary by region or country.
